Kenwood Smoothie Maker: Smoothie 2 Go

Have you ever looked at smoothie recipes or pictures of delicious smoothies and thought you'd like to make them, but you don't have the time or the money to put it together? Well, let me introduce you to my new best friend, the Kenwood Smoothie 2 Go! This is so sleek, compact, easy to use and just plain genius. The design is so simple, yet it is designed in a way that you can have a smoothie in a few minutes, you can make different flavours without having to mess around and you can clean every part of the machine with ease.


In the box, you get the main unit, two cups, two lids and the blade. I don't know if I was supposed to, but I didn't receive any instructions; but it's so simple to use, it didn't matter. First up, you need to decide what you'd like to make - a smoothie, a milkshake, a juice? Here are some smoothie recipes I made earlier for you! If you're like me and you like to keep things quick and simple, you'll be extremely pleased to know that this blade can handle frozen fruits, no problem whatsoever; I just keep fresh bananas and buy most other fruit frozen. There is actually a cut off level on the cups as to how high you can have frozen ingredients and a 'max capacity' level too (I went over a little bit with this smoothie, whoops).


As there are two cups and each cup will make one drink, you can make two completely different flavours at a time; which is good for Gareth (my other half) and I because I love my berries and citrus fruits and he likes more tropical fruits. I went for banana, blueberry, raspberry and oats and Gareth had banana, mango and raspberry.


You can really add anything you like, just make sure you add some sort of liquid and some yoghurt if you want a thick smoothie. I added milk and yoghurt to mine, whereas Gareth added Tropicana and just a little bit of yoghurt to his; mine was a smoothie and Gareth ended up with a thick juice. You can play around with all sorts of different things; water, lemonade, milk, sorbet, yoghurt, juice and frozen yoghurt are just a few of the suggestions I have off the top of my head. You can then mix things up with seeds, oats and nuts and why not try a vegetable smoothie? The possibilities are endless.


So, to make the smoothie in the Kenwood Smoothie 2 Go, you just pop all of your ingredients in the cup and screw on the blade. Turn the cup upside down and lock it into the base before blending to your desired consistency. Take the cup off, unscrew the blade and either add the travel lid or pour into a glass. Rinse everything out right away to avoid fruit drying to the different parts and being more difficult to clean later and there you have it. So easy, and because the blade is a completely separate part from the rest of the mixer, you can just give it a quick clean and move onto the next cup to make another smoothie.



You can get your Smoothie 2 Go from Tesco, Asda, Argos, John Lewis, Amazon and those usual kinds of places. It ranges from £19 to about £25, so it's really affordable and if you find fruits and vegetables expensive (because they are), then like I've mentioned already, you can just stock up your freezer with frozen versions, which tend to be a little cheaper. I highly recommend this smoothie maker; it is a very welcome new addition to our household!
