Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation in 'Ecru'

If you've never used Estée Lauder's Double Wear Foundation, I'm sure you will have at least heard of it. Double Wear has been raved about and at the top of 'Favourite Makeup Products' lists for many years; I can't believe I'm only just getting around to trying it out for myself.

First of all, I must mention that I have only recently started using a brush to apply my primer, foundation/BB cream and blush. Until now, I have always used my fingers and blended it with a Beauty Blender sponge and, although I do like the Beauty Blender, oh my goodness! I can't believe the difference that blending your base with a brush makes. I know plenty of you probably already use a brush, but if you don't, make the switch now! I use a stipple brush from Bobbi Brown, which is a flat ended brush. I think the flat end makes it much easier to blend and I just use circular motions all over my face. I've used foundation brushes before and I don't really like the shape, I think this is what has stopped me using a brush to apply my base all these years.

So, onto the foundation, this stuff rocks! It comes in a glass bottle, which is very fancy, but a little bit of a bummer if you want to stop wasting your products. I don't know if it's because it's open and I usually use pump bottles or squeezy tube style foundations, but it has quite a strong 'makeup' smell; it's not a bad thing though, it's just something I don't notice from other foundations. It applies like a dream (with a brush, make the switch!), it is so easy to blend and has a beautiful matte finish. I tested it out over a 9 hour shift at work, without any touch ups and I was amazed at the results. The makeup had not budged, my skin still looked wonderfully matte and the rest of my makeup had stayed sat beautifully because of it as well; clearly, if you get the base right, the rest of your makeup will do as it's told!

I use the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream now on a daily basis, but this really does not feel heavy in comparison. It is so lightweight, yet it gives a good medium coverage; better yet, it has SPF10. It provides you with a gorgeous smooth canvas and does not highlight any fine lines or blemishes. Estée Lauder have a foundation matching service available; if you go into your nearest EL counter, you can have your foundation matched and take away a 10ml sample to try before you buy - trust me, you will want to buy!

You can get yours from the Estée Lauder website or Boots for £29.50. A little pricey, but many people comment on how long the bottle lasts them. If you don't wear foundation every day, this one is good for 24 months, as opposed to many that are only 12, so you have plenty of time to make the most of it before it needs replacing.

What do you think of Double Wear? Love it, hate it, can't wait to try it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!
