Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

I'd like to think you all know me well enough by now to know that I dislike negativity, but I also regard honesty as a very important quality in a person. I am very honest and as I share my opinions with you on certain products, it may mean I need to be a little negative at times. Not everything can be the perfect product for everyone after all; otherwise there'd be no competition in the world and that would be very boring.

Now, it's not all bad. The Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser comes in an adorable little tube, perfect for popping into your handbag or makeup bag without taking up too much room and looks super cute on any dresser or bathroom shelf. I've read mixed reviews about this product and I've also seen it being compared to the Benefit POREfessional; a great product. Baby Skin claims to make pores appear instantly erased for smooth-looking skin and without actually saying so, it is a type of primer. My favourite primer is the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, which is the first ever primer to have made it on the scenes and continues to lead the way being a miracle product for thousands and providing different types for every kind of skin.

Unfortunately, the Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser does not hold your makeup all day and keep it looking fresh. It does give you really soft skin (really, really soft); however, that's all it does. It does not reduce the appearance of pores or even set a good canvas for your makeup as it's a little too soft for makeup to be able to hold on to. It says on the tube that you can wear this product alone, but I think it can make you look quite oily around the t-zone area and I have dry/normal skin. For me, this is nowhere near as good as POREfessional, which really does reduce the appearance of pores. I know some of you may be thinking that by comparing Maybelline to Benefit there is no way that Maybelline could win, but there are so many high street branded products out there that have shown us they can be just as good, if not better, than some of the premium branded products. So, brand and price does not mean it will be better quality. In fact, as an example involving the same two brands, I really love Maybelline's Illegal Lengths mascara, but I really do not like Benefit's They're Real. I know so many people that absolutely love They're Real, but I just found it clumpy and too runny. I have tried so many different mascaras and Illegal Lengths along with The Rocket (also Maybelline) are the only two I have re-purchased. They both have lovely brushes, although different, and give a really nice full coverage on the lashes with a perfect separated lash look.

Baby Skin is clear and blends really easily into the skin, it really does feel great. There is no smell at all and it dries really quickly without leaving any kind of tacky feeling on the skin. I apply it with my fingers and my fingertips do feel a little oily after application; this could be an indication as to why it doesn't keep your making looking fabulous all day long. Any kind of heat can make Baby Skin slide and it takes all of your makeup with it.

I do love Maybelline as a brand so I feel quite bad about making them part of my first negative review, but we can't all get it right every single time and this is just my opinion. Like I said, there have been some very mixed reviews about this product and it might work like a dream on your skin.

You can get Baby Skin for £7.99 from Boots. Have you tried it yet, what do you think?
