Makeup: Colour made easy!

When it comes to makeup, do you ever wonder what colours are best for you? Which ones match your eyes, your hair and even your skin tone? They have foundations with a yellow base and a pink base, but what is all that about?

It's as simple as the colour wheel, we all know it, we all learnt about it at school and we can all use it when it comes to doing our makeup.

You might be looking at this thinking that your skin isn't any of these colours, don't fret; we're simply using this wheel as a guide.

Blue - Opposite blue we have oranges and yellows so you want to be using eye shadows with a gold or orange base to really make the blue of your eyes pop. If you have deep blue eyes, you want to use bright, but soft gold colours. If you have baby blue eyes, you should be looking at a deeper, almost copper colour.

Green - For green eyes, you should be playing around with pinks and purples to make your eyes pop. Browns with a deep red base will also work here.

Brown - You guessed it, if green uses deep red browns, you want to be looking at nice earthy green tones to compliment the brown tones in your eyes.

Hazel - Hazel is a nice golden brown mix with slight green tones to it, so you should play around with blues and deep purples to draw out your eye colour.

It's really important to get the right shade of foundation for your skin tone. If you've never quite felt that your foundation looks right, you might be using the wrong colour.

Cool - If you have blue tones under your skin and blue or purple veins on your arms, then you most likely have a cool undertone; you should be using a foundation with a pink base.

Warm - If you have yellow tones to your skin and green or yellow veins, you have a warm undertone and should be looking at foundations with a yellow base.

Neutral - If you have a green tone to your skin, then you have neutral undertones. You can get away with most things when it comes to makeup, but you should pick your foundation based on whichever tone you're leaning more towards; warm or cool.

Cool - Purple, pink and nude lipsticks or glosses will suit your skin tone. For the perfect red lip, you should be using a blue based red lipstick.

Warm - Brown, coral and orange lipsticks or glosses will suit your skin tone. For the perfect red lip, you should be looking for an orange base.

Neutral - Absolutely anything you like!

This post is just a guide based on colours and what naturally compliments you, but that doesn't mean you should stop playing around with colour and new looks. The only thing I would say to make sure you get right is your foundation shade and red lip; other than that, have fun experimenting and get creative!

Where do you fit into the colour chart and what colours do you like to wear? Let us know in the comments section below.
