10 ways to give your life a little lift (and make it awesome!)

Summer is a great way to fit in some you time and refresh! Here, I've put together a few ways to help make living life just a little bit easier. If you have other ways you'd like to share with us, please do.

1. DON'T LIVE IN FEAR
So, some of these ideas may be a little cliché, but it's always good to have a new perspective on things, don't you think? Fear of any kind can hold you back and you may never know it, but opportunities could be just passing you by. You need to always be on the lookout for opportunities and believe that you are worthy of them. If confidence is an issue for you, then this may be more difficult, but all the more reason to face your fears head on and don't let it take over your life. You need to just take a deep breath, dive in and you will feel amazing afterwards. Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things; you never know what opportunities may lead to!




2. BE YOURSELF
I like to say 'You will only ever come second if you try to be someone else, but you will always win 1st place at being yourself'. It's my own little phrase that I think everyone should live by. Discover yourself and find out who you really are. Sure, you can be inspired by other people and use products and wear clothes that they do, but don't live your life trying to be something you're not. Until you stop trying to be what you think people want you to be and actually be yourself, your true sparkle will never shine. Try it, you might just surprise yourself!

3. LOVE YOURSELF
Once you've discovered who you are, it's time to accept it and love it! Spend time with yourself, learning and dreaming. Discover what you want to achieve in life and believe that, as the amazing person you are, you can reach your goals. Try and treat your body like a temple, taking note of what food you eat and how much you take care of yourself. The more you love yourself, the happier you will be and the more approachable you will be for others to come into your life and love you too.



On another note, there is a line so make sure you don't cross it. There is learning to love yourself and there is being full off yourself (not the best quality to have). You can love yourself without needing to tell everyone about how amazing you are all the time - make sure you have time to listen to others and love them too.

4. DITCH THE NEGATIVITY
No one needs negativity in their lives and, although it's easier said than done, you should try and make sure you don't have any in yours. If you have friends that make you work to be their friend or make you feel bad about yourself, then perhaps it's time to consider if these people are really your friends. Surround yourself with people who make you feel happy and good about yourself; and be sure you can make them feel the same. Do things that help you to enjoy life, not feel fed up constantly; go for a walk, read a book or even learn a new skill.



You need to try and stop being negative with yourself too, learn to believe that you can achieve success and everything else you aspire to do. If you're able to remain positive with all that you do, you're more likely to shine brightly and do it better than you ever thought you could. 

5. SPREAD HAPPINESS
This one might seem like it's going to make other people's lives awesome, not yours, but have you ever actually done something for a friend because you knew it would make them happy? It should have made you feel good that you were able to make someone else happy. Sometimes, just smiling at people on the street can make someone's day and you may not even know what you've just done. Always think about others as well as yourself and always try to help a friend in need (even if you've got your own thing going on, you always will, everyone has something happening).

6. FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS
I feel very strongly about this one. I have always believed in following your dreams and I always will. After all, this is what you have to live for. Your dreams can be as big or small as you want them to be - I personally dream big, but each to their own.  Whichever road you choose to take, remember that the possibilities are endless. Whether your dream is love, success, fame, money, happiness, family, friends or even just to own something you have your eye on; there are no wrong answers when it comes to dreams. And when you have successfully fulfilled your dream, choose another one and start the adventure again; who knows where the road will take you this time.


7. NEVER GIVE UP
Following on from number 6, I feel the need to mention to never give up. Sometimes your dreams will be hard work and sometimes it might not even feel worth it, but if you want your dream badly enough it will always be worth it. Everyone starts at the beginning of an adventure and the further you get down the line, you need to look at how far you've come and be proud of your achievements so far. Keep the end in sight and always picture yourself within the dream to remind you of what you're aiming for.



8. GO OUTSIDE
This may seem a little odd as a way to make life awesome, but going outside and enjoying the sun (or the rain) and the fresh air around you alone can give you a refreshing boost. Go for a walk and don't just make it a one off, go weekly or even daily. If walking isn't your thing, why not go sit in the garden and read or work on your gardening skills? It'll brighten your day, no matter what the weather is like, and you will feel far more productive than having just sat inside watching TV all day. 


9. LOOK TO THE FUTURE 
There's no point dwelling on anything in the past, always try and look forward and make each day better than yesterday. Everyone makes mistakes so if you have any in your past, leave them there. Most things in life can be fixed so if you have anything in your past that bothers you, don't let it take over by playing a loop in your head over and over again, just try and work out a way to fix it and move on. Leave the past where it is, it has nothing new to say to you.


10. NO REGRETS
Finally, we naturally move on to no regrets. Living with regrets can eat you alive from the inside out and stop you living life to the fullest. Other regrets can spur you on as to not make the same mistakes again. I, myself, had always regretted almost winning a running competition at school by a very fair amount and I gave up and dropped out at the last 100m because I felt that I couldn't run anymore. I now go running with my sister about three times a week and I no longer regret dropping out of the competition, because whenever I feel like I can no longer keep going, I think about how long I held that regret within myself and how I didn't want to feel like that again. I know regrets come in all shapes and sizes and some are easier to forget about than others, so maybe there are ways you can help relieve the regret you hold over yourself. Sometimes it's easier to discuss regrets with your closest friend and this could be a way to release the negativity you feel and start feeling happy again.
